Mr. M. Bogdanov talking about Chekhov's "The Seagull" and Mr. Jaslow, who was brought by his father. Mr. Michael Bogdanov, a British director, came to Japan to direct "The Seagull" by A. Chekhov at the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre in July and August. Mr. Bogdanov is a National Theatre director who specializes in Shakespeare, but "I don't consider myself an expert on Chekhov, but I like his work," he said. In fact, this is his second visit to Japan, having come to Japan in 1973 for a world tour of Peter Brook's production of Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream. During his last stay in Japan, he was exposed to Kabuki and Noh plays, which "made me realize that I should have seen them when I was younger," he says, and this time he brought his 12-year-old son, Jasro, all the way to Japan.
