Battleship Yamato
April 7. 1945, Japan - Japanese battleship Yamato is at the sea in the naval battle of of Bounomisaki , also called Operation Ten-Go or Operation Heaven One The Japanese force was attacked, stopped, and almost completely destroyed by United States carrier-borne aircraft before reaching Okinawa. Yamato and five other Japanese warships were sunk. (Yamato waterborne suicide attack, April 7, 1945)
