Gemsboks in the Kalahari rainy season
Gemsboks (Oryx gazella) at a waterhole during the summer rainfall season in the arid semi-desert Kalahari. These large antelopes eat grass and leaves and can go without water for long periods. Both the male and the female have horns, which are effective weapons against predators. Photographed in the Auob riverbed of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, South Africa.
