Typhoon No. 12 moves across western Japan (September 9, 2011)
September 9, 2011, Wakayama, Japan - The typhoon which was the worst since 2004, the 12th of this season, hit Wakayama prefectures in Japan. Evacuation orders and advisories were issued to 460,000 people in the region, killed at least 60 people. Thousands of people remain isolated after the powerful typhoon leveled the Kii peninsula, especially Wakayama and Nara prefectures, as cut off roads and destroyed many houses.
