The world's top designers, Kenzo Takada and Issey Miyake, held a joint fashion show at the Gold Hall of the Shinagawa Prince Hotel in Tokyo from June 3 to 5, 1982, and at the Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium on the following June 9 and 10. The exhibition was titled "Issey Miyake + Kenzo Takada: Encounter and Combustion" (sponsored by the Mainichi Shimbun, supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of International Trade and Industry, Agency for Cultural Affairs, and Shiseido). The Tokyo venue was attended by 23,000 people for three days. The Osaka venue had 16,000 visitors for two days. A total of 40,000 spectators watched the show of the encounter between the two. The fashion show "Issey Miyake + Kenzo Takada: Encounter and Combustion" was held in Tokyo and Osaka.
