Trooping crumble cap mushrooms
Trooping crumble cap mushrooms or fairies' bonnets (Coprinus disseminatus). These small, fragile mushrooms are the edible fruiting bodies of this fungus. They are less than 2 centimetres in height and grow on or near dead trees in clusters of up to several hundreds. These mushrooms have gills on the underside of the caps in which the reproductive spores ripen, ready to drift to the ground and form a new fungal body or mycelium.
