Common earthball fungi
Common earthball fungi (Scleroderma citrinum). These are the fruiting bodies, reproductive structures, of the fungi. They grow up to 10 centimetres in diameter and have a hard scaly outer rind. These mushrooms are poisonous, causing nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea if ingested. They are found growing in woodland. Photographed in October in Cornwall, UK.
