Orchid flower
Orchid flower (Dendrobium cruentum). The red and pale green structure is a specialised petal called a lip. It attracts pollinators and provides them with a landing platform. This is an epiphytic orchid (one that grows in trees). It is found in the tropics, in Thailand. There are more than 30,000 species of orchids worldwide, many of which are grown as ornamental flowers.
