Love in a mist seedhead
Love in a mist (Nigella damascena 'Miss Jekyll') seedhead. This plant is used in herbal medicine. The seeds (not seen) are believed to be a stimulant, to promote urine formation, to reduce the flow of milk in nursing mothers and to be a strong purgative. They may also contain antihistamines and are therefore taken as a natural remedy for diseases of the upper respiratory tract. The seeds are dried, then ground into a powder and mixed with honey to make a paste which is taken internally.
