Low-sodium salt. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of low sodium salt. Pure table salt is primarily sodium chloride (NaCl), but low-sodium salt's main constituent is potassium chloride (KCl). This type of salt is used as part of a restricted salt diet to aid those with high blood pressure. Magnification: x40 when printed at 10 centimetres wide.
