Spotted hyena chasing a hooded vulture
Spotted hyena (Crocuta crocuta) chasing a hooded vulture (Necrosyrtes monachus). The spotted hyena, also known as the laughing hyena, is primarily a pack hunting predator living in groups of up to forty individuals on the savannas and deserts of Africa. The hooded vulture is native to sub-Saharan Africa. It feeds on carrion, which it spots from great altitudes whilst soaring above the savannah. Photographed in the Vumbura area of the Okavango Delta, Botswana.
