HADES particle accelerator
HADES particle accelerator. Part of the HADES particle accelerator. This machine is designed to help physicists investigate the existence and properties of Hadron particles. In particle physics, a hadron is a particle made of quarks held together by the strong force, similar to how molecules are held together by the electromagnetic force. This is the rotary system that guides the beam of ions. Photographed at the GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research, Darmstadt, Germany.
