Red Sea, satellite image. This sea is a narrow inlet of the Indian Ocean, lying between Africa (lower left) and the Arabian Peninsula (upper right). It is connected to the Indian Ocean at bottom right through the Gulf of Aden. At the sea's northern end is the Gulf of Aqaba and the Gulf of Suez either side of the Sinai Peninsula. Countries with a coast on the Red Sea are Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Djibouti, Eritrea and Sudan. Composite image obtained using data from the Landsat 5 satellite.
