Porcelain fungus
Porcelain fungus (Oudemansiella mucida). Fruiting bodies of the porcelain fungus growing on the trunk of a dead beech tree (Fagus sylvaticus). This edible fungus is named after its translucent appearance. It is specific to beech woodlands, and occurs on both living and dead parts of beech trees. Photographed in Scotland.
