Candle and sleeping net, Amazonia, Brazil. The tourist (left) protected by the net is staying at the Uakari Floating Lodge, completed in 2001 as part of the Mamiraua Sustainable Development Reserve. This is a large area of rainforest on the upper reaches of the Amazon, in the state of Amazonas in western Brazil. The reserve, which floods in the wet season, sustains a huge diversity of plants and wildlife. It was established in 1996, and is listed as a Ramsar Wetland of International Importance.
