Rice weevil. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of the upper body of the rice weevil (Sitophilus oryzae). This weevil is a major pest of stored rice in warm climates. The female lays its eggs inside the grains and the developing larvae feed on the grains, hollowing them out.
