Robert Taylor the devil's chaplain Darwin
The collected pamphlets and Diegesis by Robert Taylor in original early 19th Century bindings. The Reverend Robert Taylor preached a radical and at the time heretical reinterpretation of the Bible. It earned him the nick name of \The Devil's Chaplain\". His book \"The Diegesis\" was banned and his publisher imprisoned. Taylor was active in Cambridge when Darwin was a student and the University prohibited any aid to Taylor. His nickname and official disapproval may have influenced Darwin to write his line \"what a book the Devil's Chaplain may write about the works of Nature\" (check). The Devil's Chaplain was later taken as a title of a book of Richard Dawkins' contributions to science."
