Strong nuclear force
Strong nuclear force. Conceptual image showing the strong nuclear force (blue) holding together particles such as protons and neutrons in the nucleus of an atom. The strong nuclear force is one of the four fundamental forces underpinning the structure of the universe. The others are the weak nuclear force, gravitation, and electromagnetism. Without the strong nuclear force, it would not be possible for atomic nuclei to form.
