Coppice woodland
Coppice woodland in April, a traditional woodland management technique. Here some Ash trees (Fraxinus excelsior) are left to grow and the remaining coppice trees are cut to ground every 10 years to provide a supply of small wood. The woodland is thus divided into a series of areas cut in different years, ensuring a continuous supply of wood. Photographed in Ashwellthorpe Wood, Norfolk, UK.
