City centre tram
City centre tram in a pedestrianised street. Trams, a form of public transport, are considered an environmentally friendly alternative to cars. This tram is part of the electric tramway system in Strasbourg, France, which opened in 1994. The trams run on rails sunk into the streets, and power is drawn from overhead wires. The tram model here is an Alstom Citadis 403, which has low-floor access and seven sections. It was introduced in 2005 and 2006. This tram (Line A) is entering Place Kleber, the city's central square. Photographed in May 2011.
