Autonomous vehicle test
Autonomous vehicle crossing the finishing line of the 2007 DARPA Urban Challenge. An autonomous vehicle has no driver and is not controlled remotely, instead relying on various sensors and positioning systems. During this challenge the vehicles had to negotiate a course within a set time, while obeying all traffic regulations and avoiding other vehicles and obstacles. This was the winning vehicle, developed by the Tartan Racing team from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvannia, USA. Photographed at George Air Force Base, California, USA.
