Leaf-footed bug
Leaf-footed bug (family Coreidae). This family of insects is so-named because of the leaf-like structures on their hind-legs (lower right and lower left). They are herbivorous, feeding on plants and leaves, reaching lengths of 1 to 4 centimetres. They have veined forewings folded over the back of their abdomen, long antennae (yellow tips), and bulbous compound eyes each side of their head. Photographed in Ecuador.
