Nano-medicine. Drug delivery research
Research into the development of nano-scaled drug delivery systems. Researchers at the Welsh School of Pharmacy at Cardiff University uses fluorescence microscopy to study endocytic pathways in breast cancer cells. The display monitor of the microscope shows the cell nuclei as as blue structures within the red actin cytoskeleton. Green spots are early endosomes which it is hoped will play a part in enabling therapeutic macromolecules to accurately target diseased cells using nano-scale delivery technology.
