Anhydrous copper (II) sulphate
Anhydrous copper (II) sulphate (CuSO4). In hydrated form (blue, not shown), water is held within the structure of this chemical by hydration bonds. When it is heated, the hydration bonds are broken and the water evaporates, leaving behind de-hydrated (anhydrous) copper (II) sulphate (white).
