Carcharhinus shark, 18th-century artwork. These sharks, most of which bear live young, are found in warm waters worldwide. This watercolour was painted by British artist Sydney Parkinson (c.1745-1771) on Captain James Cook's first voyage to the Pacific (1768-1771) in HMS Endeavour. This artwork is part of the collections held at the Natural History Museum, London, UK.
