Lapland longspur (Calcarius lapponicus alascensis), 18th-century artwork. This bird is found in Alaska. This watercolour, by British artist William Wade Ellis (1751-1785), is from a collection of sketches of mammals, birds and fish made on Captain James Cook's third voyage of exploration (1776-1780). The artwork is part of the collections held at the Natural History Museum, London, UK.
