Oak leaf fossil
Oak leaf fossil. Rock with a fossilised specimen of a leaf from the oak species Quercus hispanica. This leaf is 9 centimetres long. Part of the flora found near Andance in the Rhone Valley in southern France, it dates from around 5 million years ago during the Pliocene when the climate was warmer. This specimen is part of the Brice collection of the Science Faculty at Lille Catholic University, Lille, France.
