THG anabolic steroid molecule
THG. Molecular model of the anabolic steroid drug tetrahydrogestrinone (C21.H28.O2, THG), also known as The Clear. THG is a powerful anabolic steroid, sometimes used as a designer drug. It binds to both androgen (male sex hormone) and progesterone (female sex hormone) receptors. Binding of THG to androgen receptors causes muscle tissue growth, leading to it being used illegally in competitive sports. Overuse of THG can cause infertility in males and females and suppression of the immune system. Atoms (spheres) are colour-coded: carbon (grey), hydrogen (white) and oxygen (red). Three carbon double bonds are highlighted.
