He and five others sailed across the Pacific Ocean from South America to the Polynesian islands. The aim was to show that people from South America could have settled Polynesia. The voyage took 101 days, departing Callao, Peru right, on 28 April, and making landfall on Raroia atoll left in the Tuamotu group of islands on 7 August.
