Large Hadron Collider maintenance
An engineer on a bicycle provided for tunnel transportation rides past engineers working on the Large Hadron collider in the 27Km circular tunnel at CERN near Geneva in the planned 2013 shutdown. During a 2-year maintenance period, engineers repair and add new insulation and other improvements to all 10, 170 splices around the 27Km ring. Transport around the ring is by bicycle or small electric buggies.
