Porcine obesity research
Veterinarian operating on a morbidly obese pig (Sus sp.). They will implant electrodes (red) and a pacemaker (in packet) that will electrically stimulate the vagus nerve. The vagus nerve controls satiety, so stimulation of it will make the animal feel full. The work is part of a study on the effects of obesity in farm animals. Photographed at the INRA, France.
