Eclampsia, MRI scan
Eclampsia. Coloured magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan of the brain of a 27 year old woman (from below), 7 days after giving birth (post partum). Eclampsia is the onset of seizures or unexplained coma during pregnancy or post partum. There are lesions (white) in several brain lobes. The lesions result from inflammation and reduced blood flow to the brain in preeclampsia, a condition that may lead to eclampsia.
