Chimney stack simulator
Chimney stack simulator. Researcher sampling gases from the stack simulator, a virtual chimney developed by the National Physical Laboratory (NPL). The simulator is used by people who monitor factory emissions to test their procedures under controlled conditions. It may also be used for instrument development by manufacturers of new continuous emission monitors. The simulator can generate a wide range of gas mixtures, including typical combustion gases containing oxygen, carbon dioxide, nitric oxide and sulphur dioxide with moisture present. Photographed at the National Physical Laboratory, Teddington, UK.
