Pearly Malachite butterfly
The pearly malachite butterfly, latin name Siproeta stelenes, is also simply named the malachite for its resemblance to the mineral malachite. It is a brush-footed butterfly belonging to the Nymphalidae family. It has large wings that may be dark or yellow-green on the uppersides and light brown to orange and olive green on the undersides. The malachite is native to Central and northern South America, where it is a very common butterfly species.
