Frost on Mars, satellite image
Frost on Mars. Satellite image of frost accumulation on gullies on the surface of Mars. This frost is carbon dioxide ice that often sublimates (going directly from a solid to a gas) during the Martian spring. Imaged by the High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE) camera on NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) satellite, in late winter.
