Titian Peale helped with collecting and preserving specimens for display. Peale was elected to the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia in 1816. He was noted for his drawings of butterflies and birds. Peale took part in expeditions to Florida, Georgia and the Rocky Mountains, and was chief naturalist for the United States Exploring Expedition of 1838 to 1842.
