A bamboo frame bike
A bamboo frame bike developed by Dr Shpend-Gerguri and Dr James-Broughton of Oxford Brookes University. The frame is bamboo, and the joints are hemp another natural plant material and bonded with epoxy resin. The bike is the first bamboo frame bike to get BS EN test certified accreditation. The model shown is the second bike developed by the university, but is now in production by RAW Bamboo Bikes. The bamboo frame makes the bike very environmentally friendly, as the bamboo absorbs C02 as it grows making it far more climate friendly than traditional steel or aluminium frame bikes.
