The lighthouse at Tenpozan (also Tenposan or Tempozan) in Osaka Harbor. Tenpozan, which means Mt. Tenpo, got its name from the year it was created, Tenpo 2 (1831). In this year, the Ajigawa River was dredged and the mud was deposited on this location creating a "mountain" of about 20 meters high. It became an important marker for ships entering Osaka. After the fall of the Tokugawa shogunate, an artillery unit was built here, greatly lowering the elevation. Subsidence lowered Tenpozan even more, but it is still called Mt. Tenpo today and is considered the lowest mountain in Japan.
