Train crew in front of the C51-239 steam locomotive, also known as the "Royal Engine." It pulled the Imperial Train 104 times.C51-239 was manufactured at the Kisha Seizo Co. during 1927. The engine pulled express trains on the Tokaido main line. After WW2, it did duty on the Uetsu, Shinetsu and Hokuriku lines in Niigata Prefecture.On October 26, 1962, C51-239 was pulled out of service and became the first "Historical Railroad Sub-Monument." It is now exhibited at the Umekoji Steam Locomotive Museum in Kyoto.
