Iodine displaced from potassium iodide
Iodine being displaced from potassium iodide. Apparatus used to show how a clear solution of potassium iodide is turned dark brown (left) by the addition of chlorine gas. As the chlorine gas is bubbled through the potassium iodide, iodine vapour is produced, which can be seen bubbling into the test tube.
