Spirulina production
Spirulina algae production. Spirulina is a blue-green alga (cyanobacterium) credited with various medicinal and dietary properties, from high protein and vitamin content, to being an energy booster and a treatment for ailments from diabetes to depression. The alga seen here is grown in ponds heated by an electric generator running off the methane generated from effluent from a nearby pig farm. It is pressed and dehydrated before being packaged for sale.
