Solar system planets, montage image from 2000. This view shows the nine planets (Pluto was then considered a planet) and the four Galilean moons of Jupiter. The view is from the surface of the Moon. Jupiter is at centre. At far left is Venus. Mars is at upper left, with the Earth at centre left. Saturn (ringed) and Uranus (blue) are at upper centre. Neptune (blue) is to the right of Uranus, with Mercury at top right. Pluto is near the Moon's horizon at centre right. The Jovian moons are: Ganymede (left of Jupiter), and then (to right of Jupiter, from left to right) Io, Europa and Callisto. In the background is the Rosette Nebula. Images are from the following missions or telescopes: Mariner 10, Galileo, Lunar Orbiter, Viking Orbiters, Voyagers, Hubble Space Telescope.
