Peruvian mummy, X-ray research
Peruvian mummy, X-ray research. This mummy of a young woman, being prepared for an X-ray scan, is held at the Darder Museum in Girona, Spain. It originates from Peru and dates from around 1200 years ago. It is unique due to the uncommon position of the legs. The mummy has tattoos on one of her arms. Ongoing anthropological research using forensic and X-ray techniques is attempting to discover her role in society, and her cause of death. Photographed in 2013, in the Clinica Maz X-ray laboratory, in Madrid, Spain.
