In November 2006, Pentland Plants installed this 2 megawatt wood chip boiler to provide all the heating and hot water for their 5.5 acre glass house site near Edinburgh. The new system now provides a 50 percent reduction in the company's ongoing fuel costs. Biomass fuels, such as sawdust, wood chips, chipped waste and wood pellets, are carbon neutral and can provide savings of up to 60 percent year on year compared to fossil fuels.
