Anti-wrinkle treatment
Anti-wrinkle treatment. Cloth being used to wipe the forehead of a patient who has been having two forms of anti-wrinkle treatment. Hyaluronic acid (white marks) was applied as a dermal filler, and botox was injected. Botox is a neurotoxin used for cosmetic purposes. The toxin is obtained from the Clostridium botulinum bacterium. This bacterium causes botulism, a form of bacterial food poisoning. Small, safe amounts of botox are injected into facial muscles, paralysing the muscles and smoothing wrinkles. One treatment can last for between three to six months. Hyaluronic acid is a polysaccharide found in connective tissue. The injections add volume under the skin, temporarily smoothing wrinkles. The effects can last up to six months.
