Asteroid Redirect Mission. Illustration of a proposed NASA mission known as the Asteroid Redirect Mission. An unmanned spacecraft would travel to an asteroid, land, capture a boulder, and return to Earth orbit. The mission was proposed in 2013, and cancelled in 2017. The technologies developed, such as ion thrusters, will be used in other missions.
