Scandinavia, satellite image. North is at top. Scandinavia is the collective name given to the countries of Norway, Sweden and Denmark and occasionally to Iceland and Finland. Norway lies on the coast of the Norwegian Sea (top left). The white areas are the mountains of Norway Sweden is immediately to the south and east of Norway. Finland (centre) provides the land link between Sweden and Russia. Denmark is the large peninsular and island group to the south of Norway (bottom left). Scandinavia encircles the Baltic Sea.
