Tabular berg, Antarctica. A Large tabular berg lies off the coast of James Ross Island on the N.E. side of the Antarctic Peninsula. Like many such bergs in this area, it probably originates from one of the great ice shelves (An ice shelf is a floating piece of ice of considerable thickness attatched to the coast, usually of great horizontal extent, having a level, or undulating surface) fringing the Weddell sea.
