Limestone pavement
Limestone pavement. This is a rock formation caused by the erosion of limestone blocks. It is made up of clints (rock ridges) and grykes (clefts between ridges). The pavement formation is typical of a Karst landscape. This is a type of topography produced by percolating ground waters and underground streams. Photographed in Malham, North Yorkshire, England.
