Erosion
Erosion alongside a cracked tarmac road in the West Indies. Fast-flowing surface waters remove large volumes of soil in the form of topsoil and subsoil. This limits the use of the eroded land and creates access problems. Water pollution arises from the deposition of soil in streams and rivers. Erosion also creastes susidence problems (seen here), threatening roads and other manmade structures. Photographed in Barbados.
